Let’s solve the first problem.

Fixtures, Mechanisms & Small Automation for Irish Manufacturing

Based in Westmeath, Brosna Automation designs and builds practical custom machinery — fixtures, mechanisms, prototypes and small industrial automation — for manufacturers across the Irish Midlands and Ireland.

HOW I CAN HELP

Start with a specific task.

I focus on the fixture, mechanism or repeated step that needs a practical process improvement, with the scope agreed around your equipment and operators.

Fixtures & assembly aids

I design custom assembly fixtures to locate, support or hold parts during assembly and repeat operations.

  • Locating jigs and part supports
  • Clamping and positioning
  • Assembly and changeover aids

Mechanisms & prototypes

I develop prototype mechanisms in CAD, and use a focused prototype where the movement or fit needs testing.

  • Guides, slides and stops
  • Handling mechanisms
  • Proof-of-concept development

Small automation

I look at sensors, pneumatics and simple controls for a clearly defined production task, including small automation systems.

  • Presence sensors and process checks
  • Sequenced pneumatic actuation
  • Basic operator controls

TYPICAL JOBS

What a focused project could look like.

Control panel interior with PLC, relays and power supply
Control panel

Control panel

Problem
The PLC, relays and power supply for a machine need to sit in one enclosure.
What I'd build
The panel interior: PLC, relay modules, power supply, isolator and field terminals, wired and labelled.
Typical outcome
One panel that can be opened, traced and connected to the machine.
Diamond wire saw with spool, guides, clamp and cylinders
Diamond wire saw

Diamond wire saw

Problem
The wire path, spool and clamp have to work together as one saw head.
What I'd build
The saw assembly in CAD: spool, guides, clamp frame and the cylinders that set the cut.
Typical outcome
A mechanism that can be reviewed for path, clamp and drives before it is made.
Clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter with transducer housings, pipe clamps and gas flow direction marked on the body
Ultrasonic flow meter

Ultrasonic flow meter

Problem
Gas flow in a line needs a meter that clamps on, with the transducers held on a fixed path.
What I'd build
Transducer housings, pipe clamps and a carrying frame, with flow direction marked on the body.
Typical outcome
A meter assembly that can be offered up to the pipe and checked for fit.
Stainless frame with a short belt and a door-mounted touchscreen
Frame with touchscreen

Frame with touchscreen

Problem
The operator needs the screen on the machine, on the same stainless frame as the belt.
What I'd build
A stainless frame with the belt on top and the touchscreen mounted in the enclosure door.
Typical outcome
Frame, belt and screen together, where the operator works.

THE FIRST STEP

A conversation, then a defined scope.

01 / TALK

Describe the task.

Tell me what happens now, where time is lost and what you want to change. A finished specification is not needed.

02 / SCOPE

Agree what is included.

I work through the constraints with you. The deliverables, price, timescale and responsibilities are agreed before work starts.

03 / DEVELOP

Design, build and check.

I develop the agreed solution and check it against the requirements. A prototype mechanism can test an uncertain part of the idea first.
